    Trickster (Torendil Frostcutter)
    Age: 263
    Sex: Male
    Species: Wylraen Elf

Appearance:A slender figure crowned with a shock of messy, shoulder length hair (because frankly a fat elf would provoke fatal aneurisms in all who beheld him) wearing clothes little short of outlandish, Trickster has naturally black hair which is dyed white down one side of his head. Habitually his features are masked behind make up, black skin beneath white hair and white beneath his natural hair colour with a dividing line that runs down the centre of his features.

His eyes do not match, one blue and one brown, and over the blue eye a black spade is painted, while over the other a red diamond is marked. Continuing the theme, his shirt is divided into two, red hearts and diamonds on black fabric while spades and clubs adorn the white, with matching cotton gloves sheathing his nimble hands. Without any visible jewellery or weapons, he moves with the playful grace of a gymnast.

    Guild & Rank:Mages/Master

Personality:The persona he generally adopts is playful and confusing, to say the least. Obfuscating, he rarely answers questions directly, instead providing a whole variety of answers both true and false. He has a tendency to refer to himself in the third person and use elaborate language, going out of his way to bewilder and entertain those he passes by.

His real personality is calmer and more reflective, though he has played the role of Trickster for some time now and the mindset he adopts something of a habit.

Background: Torendil grew up within a forest culture of Wylraen elves, in the trees south east of Cascadia and nearing the town of Ryn'war. His father was a mage and as their firstborn, he was encouraged to follow in his footsteps and become one of the magi. Fascinated by illusion, from a young age he played with different effects and phantasms to amuse himself and others, but became frustrated by the clumsiness of the long and involved spell casting which made his games awkward.

Seeing his mother use her healing magic, he grew interested in their ability to spontaneously form magic without going through the strictures of formal spell casting. Researching the rare and usually uncontrolled spontaneous casting of new magi, he became convinced that it was possible to manifest spell energies without the formality of long and involved spells and devoted his studies to that end.

Over a long period as a journeyman, he spent his time refining the spontaneous castings that were usually taught to be repressed, and though the study continued well into his mastership, he refined his ability to cast illusions and form phantasms to a high degree.

During this period of his life he encountered a woman named Irryl Dreamseeker, a bard who specialised in performance of dance. The two had a tempestuous relationship, neither liking the other much but finding themselves drawn together, incidents which occasionally resulted in bursts of passion before the two would go their separate ways.

Having finally achieved his goal of bringing spontaneous casting under regular and fine control, Torendil became bored and dissatisfied. His clashes with Irryl became more frequent, as he sought her out more often to vent his restlessness. Finally, he declared in angry exasperation that he was tired of seeing nothing but trees and living with only other Wylraen when there was an entire world outside the forest.

Irryl coolly dared him to go amongst the grubby peasants, and to her amusement, Torendil took up her challenge. Adopting a different persona, he travelled out into the world and quickly found there was much he had missed in his lonely vanity within the forest. Journeying from place to place and never remaining long, he has travelled the Isle for some thirty years.
