    Belisma Nen
    Age: 24
    Gender: Female
    Species: Mer
    Loyalty: Unity

Appearance: Nowhere near petite, Belisma has a tall, full-bodied, curvy build that is the prefect premise for the eye catching, siren-esque beauty she possesses. Thick, black eyelashes float gracefully over eyes clear, deep brown eyes; a long wealth of slightly curly onyx hair cascades down her back when let from underneath the head-wrap she wears that is the color of pale pink roses and deep maroon mixed together or when swimming in water. Her skin is barely tanned, unmarred by twenty-four years of wear. While in water, her tail emerges, glittering black with patches of shimmering honey-brown scales here and there.

When dry (which she has been for most of the previous four years), Beli sports a long coat, reaching her ankles, made of crushed velvet of deep purple; except for around the extremely low cut, u-shaped neckline (which is trimmed in a thick, dark brown brocade used to give extra support to her bosom sitting freely over the neckline and covered in a ornately embroidered lilac bra - more support and coverage), the cloth's edges are lined in an almost translucent, flat gold rope along with the same heavy brocade used along the neckline. The coat's bottom is split to the hips on either side of her body, and the front hangs open from just below her bellybutton, due to the antiqued bronze metal clasps holding it closed from right below her chest to over bellybutton. The sleeves are split much like the bottom but clasped together with the same mechanisms used on the front at the elbow, letting the side of the upper arm show and leave the forearm and hands free to work at will. She wears a three-tiered skirt of dark lilac satin measuring fifteen yards in circumference with the end each tier lined with gray tassels and cording. A pair of dark brown, knee high boots with a flat sole.

The shell necklace she made for her long lost baby sister rests about her neck just in case she might find the young girl one day, and a pair of long earrings made of shiny, polished stones strung together dangle from her hidden earlobes. She wears a belt with a medium sized leather bag around her waist that carries her tools for jewelry making as well as two fighting fan.

    Guild/Rank: Journeyman Artisan

Personality: Truly happy and content in life, Belisma is best described as a carefree individual though she certainly is responsible, making sure every job is done and everything is provided for. She has a smile for everyone and is hilariously sarcastic due to her quick wit and sense of humor. She is kind to all people though unafraid to speak her mind if she deems something wrong. Above anything else, she believes in loyalty to friends and friends to her; on permanent way to push oneself out of her graces is to betray her in any way.

  • Background: Belisma, or Beli, was born to Moeshe and Naiya Nen in a deep-sea mer colony to the far south west of ShadowStar. She lived a normal childhood with the usual bumps and scrapes that one can experience underwater with a fishlike tail. She frolicked with the few other children, laughing and playing unending games. The younger generation all grew close as the predecessors did, making it hard to keep a secret.

Her father, Moeshe, worked as an architect, designing many of the building located within the tiny settlement while her mother, Naiya, specialized in the protection magic that surrounded the little colony. Another close family member, Shasa Nen (Moeshe's sister and jewelry-fabricator), held more sway over Belisma in her career choice than any others did. Despite Moeshe's efforts, Belisma preferred her aunt's trade to his own, creating beautiful works that foretold the grace and elegance that would lie in the young child's future works. Beli cracked only one shell in her career of jewelry crafting: it was due to startling revelations given to her by Moeshe and Naiya.

On a single night about three months after her fifteenth birthday, she awoke to fierce yelling from the main room of her home. Many curses were said, but at the age she was, her ears were accustomed to such talk. She managed to piece the two most important facts: her mother had a longstanding affair, and a love child was the product of their actions. The incident fractured her family permanently though Naiya and Moeshe stayed together. Nine and a half months passed, and little Yauvani Asenath-Nen. Belisma despised the brand her father had tacked on to their last name for her little sister. For a year, the older was inseparable from the younger, loving the little one with all she could and even starting on her most intricate and time consuming necklace she had designed yet.

Up late one night and working on the jewelry masterpiece, Moeshe and Naiya entered Belisma's studio, unveiling the news that her little Yauvani had been lost in a sudden storm while they were out teaching her to swim. The pearl-like scallop cracked completely in half, much like her heart did that day. Her little baby sister was gone, taking much of her heart. Had they not been in water, tears would have streamed down her face echoing the shrill and the ethereal screams that tore from her throat sounded through out the tiny village.

The tension that stood there with the once again family of three that night would never lower; there was a constant distrust in the air about them. Belisma was often seen up late in her room, working on the necklace furiously, each nail piercing its hole through the shells' fragile skin seamlessly. In four years time, Belisma's heart healed enough to become functional in the world, but the loss of Yauvani still pierced through her..

At the age of 20 and after having collected enough tyra to support her for a good year, she left the deep-sea colony and began a new life in ShadowStar's dry world. She found the Artisan Guild, applied for membership, and was almost immediately given the title of Journeying Artisan, after explaining her previous fifteen years training and passing a skills test. The next four years were spent traveling from place to place around ShadowStar, selling her jewelry, and experiencing a world different than the one she had grown up with.
