Rules and Guidelines

• The first and most important rule is: be creative and have fun!
• Shadow Star is not D&D. Nor is it Middle Earth. Please do not confuse it with either of those, or any other random fandom. Read the Guide instead.
• No controlling another's character without permission. This includes auto-hits or auto-kills. You can swing at the other character all you want, but give the other player a chance to react. That in mind...
• No playing invincible. This is also called god-moding. Be realistic! Don't have your character be fired at five times and not get hit once. Also don't have spells that there are no way out of.
• Spamming is prohibited. If you're posting a link related to ShadowStar or a plot in an OOC part of a message, okay. If you have an unrelated link you'd like to share, ask the moderators first.
• Don't harass the moderators. `No' means `no'; we'll usually explain reasoning, but don't whine.
• Ask permission before starting any game-wide plots. We usually just want to make sure it does not interfere with something already planned.
• Don't post before having your character approved. We require character approval of all PCs by the mods. NPCs do not generally require approval. Any character transfers require approval.
• Any characters being altered or updated are subject to review by the mods, who may ask for modification.
• The gods do not resurrect people; only necromancers do. Your character isn't that special.
• Bondtalents must also be submitted to the mods for approval before graduation. If there is no Talent on record at that point, the mods will choose.
• The main list is PG-13; anything which goes beyond that needs to be taken to SSA.
• OOC means Out Of Character; IC means In Character. OOC knowledge =/= IC knowledge, so do not have your characters know something they couldn't possibly know.
• Many plots go on at one time in Shadow Star; sometimes several taking place in the past while others take place a few days or weeks later. Characters are allowed to be in multiple threads at once.
• First offenses against any of the rules results in a public warning. Further infractions within a reasonable period of time will be dealt with as the mods see fit.
• A hint: This is not a chat room RPG; so please don't write like you would in a chat room. Write in proper story format. Third person past tense! If you're looking to get power characters such as royals, guildmasters, or powerful mages and knights, be creative, write well, and be detailed. .
