    Sparrow Adler
    Age: 20
    Gender: Female
    Species: Human

Appearance: Sparrow is about average in her build and appearance. She isn't particularly tall or short and though she's trim, she isn't exceptionally thin or "skinny;" rather she had a more solid, curvy, athletic build. Her ash-brown hair, mid-length, is streaked with gold and becomes more of a golden brown or dark blonde in the summer. She almost always keeps it back in either a braid or a bun, though her bangs hang down on either side of her face. Delphinium-blue eyes are set in a strong, yet fine, featured face with high cheekbones and a femininely defined jaw. Her complexion is relatively fair, but certainly not pale. She wears non-descript clothing; occasionally skirts, but primarily pants of some sort. For weapons, she carries a short, straight dagger (formerly used for utility) and a slightly rusted old straight sword that she has almost no clue how to wield.

    Guild/Rank: Journeyman Bard – Historian/Scholar

Personality: Sparrow is relatively disenchanted with the sudden advent of her adulthood. Not that she wishes to be a child, but finds the whole transition to be somewhat grim: one phase leaving before the other arrives, and ending up in the limbo in between childhood and adulthood that has proven to be much less romantic than children imagine. All the same, she is good natured, if sometimes cynical. She's very much a dreamer, and she figures that the habit probably landed her where she is now. Too busy dreaming about a life of adventure to actually get one. Though she also had a tendency towards introspection, she's quite friendly and relatively social. Social grace does not always become her, and at times she can be lacking and clumsy, which makes her adept at laughing at herself. She's quickly defensive, however, and can have a defiant air about her.

    Family

    Mother: Farah - Herbalist - 48
    Father: Malvin - Farmer - 52
    Siblings:

  • Brennan Adler – 25 – Farmer
  • Leigh Adler – 22 – Journeyman Bard, Performer
  • Background: Sparrow was a child with big dreams. Growing up on her parents farm, she always imagined that she'd do something big and important and exciting. Like being a knight – or maybe a mage – or maybe both! Either way, she had always been certain that her future would be full of adventure and discovery and... oh, all those sort of thrilling things. Then suddenly she woke up one day, twenty years old, to find that her youth had fled before your adulthood had arrived and that, of all things, she had somehow ended up a scholar-bard, just about the most boring and dull and lacking of adventure road that she could possibly imagine.

    Pets

    Pet name: Mica
    Species: Cat
Description: Mica is a mostly white cat in the style of a Japanese Bobtail. She has a few calico patches on her head and around/on her bobbed tail. Her fur is slightly longer than a typical short-hair, but certainly doesn't qualify as a long- or even medium-haired cat. She has a lithe, light body and thin head, with one blue and one green eye. Mica is quite intelligent and Sparrow sometimes wonders if she is part Wynd. Though Mica cannot directly communicate, she knows Sparrow quite well and has found non-verbal methods of communicating what she wants.

    Tallulah JumpingWater
    Age: Eight
    Species: Mer

Appearance: Tallulah is a little child, still on the smaller end of her age group and relatively skinny. She has thick, long dark brown hair, and her wide eyes are also a deep brown, nearly black in color with thick dark lashes. She has a typically round childish face (which promises to someday mature into quite the beauty) with a nose that can only be described as "button." With all the time she spends running amok outside, she has a somewhat tan complexion, but not so much so. When in the water, her fish-half is mostly purple, though depending on how the sun hits it, shades of blue and green may also appear.

Guild & Rank: Still a child, Lula aspires to be a Water Healer Bard Master Mage Knight. And maybe an explorer, too.

Personality: Tallulah is not an atypical eight-year-old. She's rambunctious and strong-willed, usually pretty certain of what she wants and pretty set on how to get it. She has a bit of a tendency for mischief, and it isn't uncommon at all for her to lead the other children in the neighborhood in to some form of trouble or the other. (One particular instance involved the smith's pony, whom she and Tallin Longwood "freed" and romped all around Oceanica until they were finally caught up with by the smith, who was less than happy with them.) For all that, however, she's quite attentive and has a wonderful memory and loves to learn. She is also from time to time endowed with that strikingly clear perception which only finds itself in children.

    Parents:
Biological Mother: Naiya Nen - Mage (no guild) - 47
Biological Father: Shakar Jabir - Warrior - 35
Biological (Half) Sister: Belisma Nen - 24

Emery is her father in every respect other than biological. Who her actual parents are or if they are still alive or why they're not part of her life has either not occurred to Lula or does not concern her.

Though any other familial ties she might have are just as much a mystery, she has several "aunts," "uncles," and "cousins" inherited from Emery. The best of which is her cousin Lewis, only a few years older than her, with whom she is good friends and quite a bit of trouble.

Biography: All six-and-a-half years that she's come to live with Emery, Tallulah's life has been the happy and carefree life of the ordinary child. She spends most of her time learning, exploring, playing with the other children, and getting into mischief.

Lula's unknown past lies far to the southwest of ShadowStar, with a distant clan of deep sea merpeople. Lula was the unlooked for daughter of Naiya Nen by Shakar Jabir, a significantly younger warrior whom she was having an affair with. There was a small bit of scandal and gossip surrounding the pregnancy and birth, but the girl, named Yauvani Asenath-Nen, was taken into the family by her mother. It wasn't too long, though, until the child was swept away in a violent storm and lost, presumed dead. Whether this was a freak accident or the product of some cruel intention was never fully seen. She was, of course, then discovered by Emery Brennah, who took her in. Having been only a baby when adopted by Emery, Lula knows no other family or past and is quite content with her life as is.

    Pets

    Pet name: Roane
    Pet type: Sea Lion
Pet description: Not unlike Emery found her, Lula found Roane as an abandoned pup whose parents had been killed by hunters. Emery helped Lula care for the pup and Roane and Lula have been unseperable friends since. He is not, however, a pet in the sense that he lives with them and Roane comes and goes as he pleases, but spends endless hours on the shore and in the sea with Lula. Roane is also a fierce protector of the girl.

    Emery Brennah
    Age: 52
    Species: Human

Appearance: Despite his age Emery is still rather fit and some many consider him handsome. His hair short cropped hair is a mix of silver-grey and brown; though he stays relatively clean shaven, he typically has something of a five o'clock shadow. His face is good-natured, with clear sea grey eyes. He is tallish, a little over six feet, with an average build. He wears casual clothing: a cotton shirt, perhaps a vest, and standard breeches. He typically doesn't carry a weapon and wears no jewelry.

Guild & Rank: Emery has spent most of his life working as a sailor or a fisherman. Now that he spends a much greater deal of his time caring for Lula, though, he tends to embark on long voyages and fishing expeditions rarely and has picked up more consultant work and the like.

Personality: Emery is good-natured and kind-hearted, with a hearty laugh. Whatever rowdiness was in him as a youth has calmed with age. He was quite vivacious in his younger days – the typical sailor: drinking, fighting, loving – and has a soft sport for youth, still, though he has largely come to terms with aging and will rarely go out on such nights now. (Rarely doesn't mean never!) He is generous to a fault and has difficulty being strict, which can sometimes be problematic with Lula. He is well-liked in the community, and many of the women think it's a shame he never settled down and took a wife (though there were several willing to help him when he first got Lula!)

    Parents:
Emery's Mother: Rose Brennah – Housewife – deceased
Emery's Father: Jack Brennah – Fisherman – deceased

    Tallulah's Mother: Unknown
    Tallulah's Father: Unknown

    Siblings:

  • Tammin Brennah Gal – Sister – Healer/Herbalist – 52
  • Donovan Brennah – Brother – Fisherman – 50
  • Connor Brennah – Brother – Soldier – 50
  • Marin Brennah Varil – Sister – Bard/Musician – 47
  • Lucan Brennah – Brother – Sailor – 45
  • Other Familial Ties:
Emery has quite a few nieces and nephews.
Tammin's children: Connor (32), Marrion (28), and Laurel (26); Connor has 10-year old identical twins, Mallory and Jacob; Laurel has two children, Farah (3) and a baby Aiden. Tammin's husband, a fisherman, is Bradford Gal.
Donovan's children: Edric and Eitan, 18-year old twins (it must run in the family!) though not identical. Donovan's wife is Iris Brennah.
Marrin's children: Cailan (20). Marrin's husband is Benton Varil, a potter.
Lucan's children: Rea (14), Avery (12), and Lewis (10). Lewis and Lula are very good friends. Lucan's wife is Carrey Brennah.

Foster-daughter: Tallulah Jumpingwater, of course! :)

Biography: Emery led a fairly typical life prior to adopting Tallulah. The oldest of six, he was an eager and responsible youth and started working on the docks before the age of ten. When he was seventeen he ceased working on the docks and headed out to become a sailor, often embarking on long trips, but always came back to his family and his siblings. Though he had a lively youth, drinking and debauching with the best of his comrades-at-sea, Emery never took a wife and settled down. Though some laugh that he simply had too many girls at a time to pick one, the truth lie in a doomed romance, after which he never got back on his feet enough to find someone else. Emery calmed down with age, of course, and earned a well-respected and very well-liked place in the community as a time-tested bachelor.

A major change came in Emery's life one day at sea in the form of a mer-child. A few other fishers and he had been a ways out at sea on a long fishing endeavor and had noted quite the storm some way off to the southeast. A few days later, their nets pulled in more than just schools of tuna. Mingled in with the fish was a baby mer girl, just out of infancy and just barely clinging to life. The sailors did what they could to keep the girl alive and headed immediately back to land. In Oceania, the girl was sent to the healers and Emery went about the task of finding the girl's parents. After that endeavor was unsuccessful, Emery took the girl in as his own.

    Lorin Abiah
    Age: Twenty-four
    Gender: Male
    Species: Wolf anthro

Appearance: Lorin is tall, well over six feet, and solidly built to reflect both the aspect of a wolf and the rigorous training he undergoes as a soldier. His brown, auburnish hair, falls around his face somewhat like a mane, though a little better kept. He has strong facial features which he keeps clean shaven and warm hazel eyes. Brown and cream wolf ears and tail are his most obviously wolfish features, but wolf-like teeth, hands, and feet also are present. He wields two slightly curved sabers and, at times, a long staff.

Guild/Rank: Master Soldier, Second Ciron of the Flaret Miut

Personality: As a soldier, Lorin is incredibly disciplined, serious, and hard-working. He's driven less by ambition and more by an honest desire to perform to the best of his abilities and he believes steadfastly in "doing the right thing." A bit of a traditionalist, he is, over all, an exceedingly honest and honor-abiding person, nearly, if not definitely, to a fault. Though he is an assertive and confident soldier, outside of the military he tends to be quiet, reserved, and perhaps even shy (especially when it comes to women). He is extremely loyal to those he lets get close to him and, at heart, he is probably something of an idealist.

    Family

Mother: Catil Abiah, 45, left Markon and their children not long after Shea was born. A gentle woman by nature, she was likely pushed too far by Markon. Though none of the family know exactly why she left, or what she is doing now.

Father: Markon Abiah, 55, is a grizzly, unkempt man with an equally unpleasant appearance as disposition. Marked mostly by his quick and wrathful temper, he maintains a surly attitude towards the world. He was once a metalworker and was, perhaps, kinder before his wife left him, though none of the children remember that period of time well enough to truly know.

Siblings: Avi Abiah: Brother, 24, unsavory character (see NPC description for more)

Shea Abia: Younger than Avi and Lorin by four years, Shea was forced to stay behind when her brothers left with the naciron. Though she may be kind and have some of her mother's gentle nature, the task of caring for her demanding father has worn her down. She has, however, made some progress, if slowly, towards becoming an artisan.

Background: Lorin's mother left when Lorin and his siblings were very young, leaving the three to be cared for by their father. Markon did not take his wife's departure well, however, and fell heavily on drinking. Gradually, he stopped his work as a smithy, relying instead on Lorin and Avi to scrape together money - much of which was spent on Markon's drinking - working whatever odd jobs they could find. Living not far outside Starscape Mountain, the boys found most of their work there (Avi also took up the habit of doing most of his stealing there). It was on one such trip that the industrious Lorin was spotted by Naciron Rhys Clearwater. Taking a shining to the boy, Clearwater took him on as his aide while he was in the city. After learning of Lorin's father and home situation, Clearwater paid a visit to Markon, offering to take the boy under his wing and send him through training. At first, Markon acted to be highly offended by the offer, an act which only thinly masked his true ambitions. Though disgusted, Clearwater agreed to pay Markon for, not only Lorin, as it turned out, but Avi as well. Shea, who looked after the house and her father, Markon refused to part with. So, at age thirteen, the two boys left their shambled home by Starscape.

Lorin and Avis thus began training as soldiers. Harking from a traditional, aristocratic background, Rhys Clearwater believed firmly in the tradition that knights ought to come from high pedigree, or else prove their worth first as a soldier. Given the twins' background, he thought it only improper that they enrolled directly as knights. Avi was scorned by this, but Lorin saw an opportunity for advancement that he knew they never would have had with their father. Dedicated and gifted with some natural talent, Lorin rose quickly through the ranks of his miut. Though Clearwater urges him to go on to become a knight, Lorin is unsure what his future ambitions are.

    NPCs NPC name: Avi Abiah
Relation to persona: Twin of Lorin Abiah Guild: None. Avi makes his living as an all-around unsavory character for hire, whether that be as a mercenary, thief, what have you.
Location at present: Avi never stays in one place long, but frequents both Cascadia and Starscape Mountain.
Brief Description: Smug, confident, loose moraled, and all around rogue-ish, Avi differs severely in personality from Lorin. Tall like his twin, Avi is not quite as solidly built. He is instead lean and lithe, with ash brown hair and brown and blue flected eyes. His wolf characteristics - ears, tail, etc. - are predominantly grey with some traces of brown mixed in. Though Avi and Lorin are not identical, they do look incredibly similar and Avi has many of the same strong features that Lorin has. Though he carries and is relatively proficient in a scimitar, his real knack is for knives and he always has a small supply with them.
Background: Though Avi entered soldier training with Lorin, he felt the naciron's "generosity" was a bit too condescending for his taste. Though he excelled in training, he left sometime while he was a squire, taking the skills he learned on the road and working as a mercenary. He flitted from band to band for awhile, and though he will still work with his colleagues from time to time, he now works mostly on his own.
